Send off ceremonies were held on January 2, 2004 at Owens Community College for Company "C" 216th Engineer Battalion.  The 216th Engineer Battalion based out of Tracy Road Walbridge, Ohio was Called To Duty. They are enroute to Camp Atterbury in Indiana.  From there the unit will depart to Iraq, to serve their duty for 12 to 18 months.  Refreshments were served to the troops and their families.  The UAW Local 12 Veterans Committee along with a donation from the Local 12 Women's Committee presented  Charlie Company with a $500 check to help with the cost of their luncheon.  Please keep the men and women of the 216th Battalion in your prayers.  May they have a safe and speedy return home.  If you would like more information or would like to help out the families of the 216th Battalion please contact Connie Gauthier at 419-350-4990.  She is the president of the Family Support Group.
