OHIO VETERANS HOME - SERVING THOSE WHO SERVED The Ohio Veterans Home, dedicated in 1888, and located in Sandusky, Ohio is situated on nearly 100 beautifully landscaped acres. the Ohio Veterans Home has a modern 300 bed domicilary offering both independent and assisted living, as well as a 427 bed nursing facility offering standard intermediate nursing care, wanderer prevention care and Alzheimer care. Today, there are more than 700 male and female veterans residing at the Home. The cost of care is based on the veterans ability to pay, and is approximately one-third the cost of a private facility. The maximum amount is $1,440 and the minimum is $300 per month. Veterans need not divest themselves of assets they may have amassed over a lifetime of work. Some veterans residing at the home have large savings and assets, some do not. All experience the highest quality of life. To be eligible for admission into the Ohio Veterans Home, an individual must have been a resident of Ohio for 5 years as well as a veteran of the United States Armed Forces who has been honorably discharged, and: 1) have served on active duty during a period of war or declared armed conflict; or 2) had been a recipient of the Purple Heart, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, or Southwest Asia Service Medal. In addition, to be eligible for admission, veterans must be disabled by disease, wounds or otherwise, and are, by reason of such disability, incapable of earning a living. Veterans meeting these criteria shall be admitted without regard to age, race, disability, gender or ability to pay. For more information on this great home please contact Gary L. Chetwood at (419) 625-2454 ext.219 or (800) 572-7934. |
